I’d buy such phone right in the minute it hits the shelves. This concept from BenQ (The Black Box
User Interface Communication) received an iF Design Award China 2006 award.

| Muy interesante el dise?o, conserva la sencillez de las l?neas rectas y el brillo le da status al producto. Sin embargo se podr?a Jugar un poco mas con el contraste de colores, sin perder la elegancia que le caracteriza. |

| Nice design really, but an old concept, see the nokia fingerprint poster for a 2004 design competition at www.coroflot.com/duvi, but nevertheless nice going. |

Yea, cool "concept"...
But design wise...yawn. A glossy black box like everything else. |

| anyone who knows star trek tech knows this was already done for the control interfaces all over the ship on the Enterprise D. not a new design. and buttons with no tactile click response are total crap. |

While the solution is conceptually interesting, I question the practicality of an interface that spans the width of the phone. I imagine the buttons are actuated with the slightest touch so what happens as you reach into your pocket to answer your phone (or not answer it)? Are you inadvertently actuating random functions. Are you only able to gingerly grasp the phone on the thin edges to avoid accessing the calendar when you really want to view your address book?
For a product so focused on the interface, it seems little attention was paid to "real world" interaction. Can a 70yr old woman with arthritis use this as easily as a 35yr old lumberjack with big hands?
Jus some ideas to think about. |

| Yes, this design has its quirks. But solving them is what makes it interesting, isn't it? |

| it depends on the material used. if this concept will ever make it (I doubt it) into production of course. |

The design may also have a biometric scanner on the surface to recognise its user.-and then it functions.
Thats a add-on you may think about. |

| Looks nice, i guess it's like a black iPod... um personatly how does the interface work? how function heavy is this thing? that first screenshot looks interesting but a bit boring, and it's not really that obvious whats going on although in the other renderings it's a lot more clearer, hopefully if they get to do some proper interaction design they can will come up with a much better resolved product. |
