Last time I changed my phone the easiest part of the migration was transferring contacts via Bluetooth. Moving calendar data to Outlook and then to new phone wasn’t hard either. Then the first surprise - the phone didn’t offer any simple way for migrating message archive. Apparently you can save important text messages to SIM-card and this way transfer them to new phone. The second surprise was more unpleasant – there was no way to transfer all the data from codes and password application. So I had to write down all my PINs, bank account numbers, passwords etc and input them in the new phone manually.
Why not provide a simple migration wizard with the ability to choose what data gets migrated? It will simplify things a lot, even if this feature will work only between handsets of the same brand. I guess phone manufacturers would love that, because it helps to “build customer loyalty”.
And please, make it work without the inserted SIM-card. Because you feel like trying to solve some impossible puzzle having the old phone, the new phone and only one SIM-card, without which you can’t access the phone’s functions. |
