This review of music phones has an interesting observation.

Reviewers conducted a little experiment, where participants were listening to different “music phones” without actually seeing them and were asked to grade the sound quality. Nokia’s phones received lowest score for sound quality. The second time the users were able to see the phones and Nokia scored significantly higher. The expectation from the popular brand was so high that users tended to blame their hearing then the sound quality.
Brand expectation can outweigh even seemingly obvious flaws.
P.S. Forgot to mention that ROKR E2 is the winner.
